Locomotion using Orientation Warping: Lately I have been practising my technical animation skills in Unreal Engine 5. Here I have been rebuilding the animation blueprint of the character to achieve a more fluid and natural directional movement. In the end result, the Monkey King is only using the 4 basic directional animations (front, back, left and right). All in-between directions are the product of using orientation warping in the new animation blueprint.Sun Wukong character & animation assets were provided by Epic's Paragon asset pack.#technicalanimation #gamedev #UE5

The character's movement is so fluid and natural, it's impressive how you achieved this with just the 4 basic directional animations.

Definitely an improvement.It's still very uncanny, perhapse some more adjustments can be added in the AnimBP that will make the character feel more like they're shifting their weight realistically.Might not need the whole 8-way walk but to me it seems like there is a lot still left to do in order to make the character feel grounded in a physical world.Good work, keep it up.
