About us:
Three women and one man; everyone is in their mid twenties to mid thirties.
About You: Ideally, you are around our age, any race/gender/orientation/etc., reasonably clean and courteous with regard to kitchen, bathroom, and common area use (no dirty dishes left for days, clean sinks, fill/empty the dishwasher etc). Pleasant, but not necessarily social; we do socialize out back and cook together occasionally. Willing to share basic household duties like cleaning bathrooms and taking out trash, as well as general cleaning of the common areas. All diets are welcome, but we are gluten-loving carnivores, so those things will be present in the house. Reasonably respectful with noise levels (i.e. music listening on speakers in your room, but headphones in the common areas. Having friends/partners over a few nights a week = super cool. Friends crashing on the couch or extended stays = not-so-cool.
The rest of the house details:
The house has 5 rooms with 2 full baths, living room, dining room, and kitchen. Common areas of the house are fully furnished, but the bedrooms are not. There is a fenced back yard w/ a fire pit. There is a room in the basem*nt with limited storage for each person, but not enough to accommodate a lot of extra things as the owner of the house has a lot of things stored there. You would need to make other self-store arrangements for anything more than a few boxes, ect. The kitchen comes will most utensils, plates, glasses etc. These are fine for all in the house to use, as long as they are treated with care.
There is some external remodeling in progress, i.e. painting and landscaping, but nothing noisy.
The house is located in the North Tabor neighborhood, just off of NE Glisan. The neighborhood has easy access to bus lines and MAX lines within walking distance. The Couch street bicycle greenway is only a few blocks away, for biking to downtown. The 84 on ramps are only a few blocks away, as well, so its in a great location for commuting There is a Freddy's within a minute drive and a QFC a few blocks a way, as well as a Jackson's and Plaid for late night runs. There is also plenty of on-street parking.
Mt. Tabor is only a short distance, as is Laurelhurst Park. All of the neighbors are really chill and the area has a generally good vibe about it; we haven't experienced any crime/car break-ins/ect in the entire time we've been here.
The Roomies:
As some of us have service jobs, our schedules are pretty flexible, and this means that sometimes we are up and/or coming home as late as 1-2 a.m., so while we don't socialize past midnight, you would need to be okay with some noise up to that time (e.g. walking through the house, getting snacks, low-volume conversation, etc. While we understand people have different schedules, if you need strict quiet, this would not be a good fit for you.
People have come and gone over the years, but the vibe of the people that stay is generally pretty chill, easy going, but respectful of each other. We aren't a party house, but it's not a library either ;) Communication is key with 5 people in a house so we always have a policy of politely expressing concerns or ideas with one another.
A few other random things:
There is a grand piano in the large common area that is free to be played by whomever during reasonable hours.
We can't have any pets per the lease agreement.
We have on-site laundry in the basem*nt. The washer is new and commercial top load, so it can usually handle 1 person's laundry in one load. Dryer is older but reliable. Water heater is brand new this year as well, so the water is nice and hot :) Maintenance is done by me so any issues are always resolved quickly.
Rent is month-to-month, and is $665. There is a $665 deposit as well, so total move in is $1330.
Utilities are around $110 each during most of the year, sometimes less/sometimes more, but can get up to $140 for a few months in the winter months (Jan-Mar) because of central gas heat and space heaters for such a large, older house. This cost includes Water, Electricity, Gas, Trash, Gigabit Internet.
If interested, please email your phone number, as I prefer texting to email. Please also include details about you as well as your work/life situation. Pics/social media are a plus.
Thanks for looking,
Z.
